Wall-E GameCube Mod is Too Cute (but Not Too Cute for the Giz)

Long before the Pixar movie hits the big screen this summer, a group of German modders have been inspired by Wall-E’s cuteness to take an old and unloved Nintendo GameCube and some scraps of metal and acrylic, and put together a sweet mod that looks just like the little robot himself.

It even has tank treads and a flip-down shutter, like Wall-E’s, over the Gamecube’s ports. Frankly, its so loveably “realistic” that we’re pre-emptively sniffly, imagining what the movie will be like. [Bit-Tech via TechEBlog]galleryPost(‘wallemod’, 3,”);

Once upon a time (About 12 months ago), In a land far far away (Perth Australia) there was a Lathe.
It was a bit dull and sat around most of the time doing simple jobs, until one day a man (ME) decided to automate it (Computer controlled – CNC).

So it was was striped naked of it’s manual parts like the king and his clothes.
And new parts were supplied by some of the local merchants (EBay).
High precision screws (ball-screws) and motors were fitted.

The machine was alive.

It was happy machining new shapes and showing off to everybody that came near by, for a while.
It got bored and sat around again.

Until Wall-E came along and now it has a new purpose in life.

What you are looking at in the pictures is animated speakers for your PC, and a programmable Wall-E.

This is some good stuff!

The article suggests that the cost of the programmable Wall-E will more than likely be more than $100, based on the R2-D2 that is currently available.

I really enjoyed this trailer.

For the first time we get a real good feeling of what it would be like in Wall-E’s shoes as the last one on earth.

You feel a real sense of his loneliness and a real sense of his excitement when Eve shows up.

I am adding a album to my profile on The-Sandcrawler.com this week to start showcasing my Wall-E collection!

So far it’s just a few key chains, and an official movie poster.

But I do have my autographed picture coming, along with my books on order. And hopefully the group can get their hands on one of the Cinema Standees!

Sneak a Peak at Wall-E Products

I came across a few pictures today of some of the products soon to be released by Pixar.

I went to Barnes & Noble a few days ago and put my order in for all of the Wall-E Books which are due out May 20th, 2008.

Here is what I ordered:
